Perioada Noului Testament (1-30)

Deoarece adormirea multor personaje biblice nu poate fi datată, pentru perioada Noului Testament vom lista apariţia cronologică a aceleiaşi personalităţi, aşa cum este ea documentată în Scriptură.


Perioada apostolică (30-100)

Perioada apostolică începe cu răstignirea lui Hristos sau din ziua Pogorârii Duhului Sfânt şi se termină la adormirea Sfântului Apostol Ioan acoperind în jur de şaptezeci de ani.

90-96 (A doua) Persecuţie a creştinilor, sub Împăratul Domiţian.

Secolul al II-lea (101-200) Perioada post-Apostolică

Cunoscută mai mult sub numele de "perioada post-Apostolică", începe şi se termină în secolul al II-lea.

  • 105 Plutarh, episcop al Bizanţului (Constantinopol)
  • cca 107 Simeon Zelotul (Luca 6:15 şi Fapte 1:13), al 2-lea episcop de Ierusalim, este răstignit [32] la vârsta de 120 de ani, într-un loc care nu este încă stabilit clar; Ignatie, al treilea episcop al Antiohiei, primeşte moarte mucenicească la Roma (sau cca 115).
108-124 (A treia) Persecuţie a creştinilor sub împăratul Traian, continuată de împăratul Hadrian.
  • c.120 Moartea mucenicească a lui Eleuterie, episcop de Iliria şi a mamei sale Antia, 15 decembrie.
  • cca.130 Apostolul Cvadrat din Cei Şaptezeci; Papias, episcop de Heriopolis şi părinte apostolic.
  • 138 Telefor, episcop al Romei, singurul papă din secolul al II-lea a cărui moarte mucenicească este verificată.

  • 165 Moare Valentium, un eretic gnostic; Iustin Mucenicul ;i ucenicii sunt denunţaţi ca fiind creştini, biciuiţi şi decapitaţi pentru refuzul de a aduce sacrificii; Peregrinus Proteus devine creştin şi conducătorul unei sinagogi, apoi omoară un cinic. El moare dându-şi singur foc pe un rug la olimpiada din anul 165 din Atena.
177-180 (A patra) Persecuţie a creştinilor sub împăratul Marc Aureliu (161-180).
  • 177 Potinus, episcop de Lyons, Blandina, Ponticus şi alţi mucenici din Lyons mor în "mireasmă de sfinţenie".
  • 180 Dyfan din Merthyr este primul mucenic din Insulele Britanice, 14 mai; Cei doisprezece Mucenici Scillitani [33] sunt executaţi în Scillium, Africa de Nord, fiind cea mai veche moarte mucenicească documentată din Biserica din Africa, 17 iulie; Marcu Aureliu moare de ciumă.

  2. Sfântul Ioachim a trăit 80 de ani iar Ana 79. Ei au mai trăit în jur de şapte ani după ce Maria a fost încredinţată templului, astfel încât Maica Domnului avea în jur de zece ani la moartea lor.
  3. Folclorul european a păstrat numele magilor ca fiind Baltazar, Melchior şi Gaspar (sau Caspar)
  4. "Cartea albinei" siriană sugerează că numele păstorilor care au fost la Naşterea Domnului sunt Aşer, Zabulon, Iust, Nicodim, Iosif, Barşaba şi Jose?.
  5. Relatarea apocrifă, "Povestea lui Iosif", un document din secolul al IV-lea, prezintă ultimii ani din viaţa lui Iosif. După spusele Sfântului Epifanie de Salamina (c. 315-403), Înţeleptul Iosif a trăit până la o vârstă înaintată, adormind la vârsta de o sută zece ani, chiar înainte ca Hristos şă-şi înceapă activitatea publică de propovăduire a Evangheliei
  6. Propovăduirea Sfântului Ioan Botezătorul începe în "al 15-lea an al lui Tiberiu" (Luca 3,1-2). El propovăduieşte "Pocăiţi-vă, că s-a apropiat Împărăţia Cerurilor" (Mat 3:1-2)
  7. Cei trei ani de lucrare publică ai lui Hristos includ întâlnirea Celor Doisprezece Apostoli, Predica de pe Munte, minuni, Schimbarea la Faţă, etc.
  8. Execuţia Sfântului Ioan Botezătorul este menţionată în lucrarea în limba latină Antiquitates Judaicae, a istoricului evreu Flavius Josephus prin anii 93 sau 94 ? d.Hr., 18.5.2
  9. Majoritatea cercetătorilor consideră că anul 30 d.Hr. este probabil data corectă a Morţii şi Învierii Domnului şi a Pogorârii Duhului Sfânt; o vom preferea şi aici în loc de indicaţia tradiţională a anului 33 d. Hr.
  10. Tradiţia spune că la momentul adormirii sale avea puţin peste cincizeci de ani.
  11. Gamaliel era cinstit ca fariseu învăţat în Legea Iudaică, el fiind dascălul Sfântului Apostol Pavell; autorul cărţii Faptele Apostolilor îl descrie pe Gamaliel cu mult respect (Fapte 5,34, 22:3)
  12. Tradiţia spune că Apostolul Andrei a primit moarte mucenicească în Aheea, la Patras, prin răstignire.

  15. Nobilele doamne romane, ucenice ale Apostolilor Petru şi Pavel, ale căror trupuri ele le-au îngropat. Ele au primit moarte mucenicească sub Nero.

  20. Sclavul care a fugit de la stăpânul său, Filimon, şi care a fost convertit de Sfântul Pavel la Roma şi a fost motivul scrisorii Sfântului Pavel către Filimon.
  21. După tradiţie, el a fost hirotonit ca primul episcop de Catania, în Sicilia, de către Sfântul Apostol Petru, cu care călătorise din Antiohia. El a adormit la o vârstă foarte înaintată.
  22. Prin tradiţie, a fost hirotonit de Apostolul Petru ca primul preot din Fiesole, el a primit moarte mucenicească împreună cu câţiva însoţitori sub Domiţian
  23. BPrin tradiţie, el a fost un preot martirizat la Roma, probabil sub Domiţian.

  26. Frate al Împăratului Vespasian şi unchi al lui Tit şi Domiţian, cu a cărui nepoată, Flavia Domitilla, s-a căsătorit. În anul 95 DH, el a fost unul din consuli alături de Domiţian. Anul următor, a fost decapitat de Domiţian pentru credinţa sa creştină.
  27. Data este nesigură. Izvoare din acea perioadă menţionează că el a murit de moarte naturală, probabil în Grecia. O tradiţie din secolul al IX-lea menţionează maortea sa mucenicească în Crimeea în anul 102 prin înecare, când a fost aruncat de pe un vapor, fiind legat de o ancoră.
  28. Ei făceau parte din curtea Flaviei Domitilla, pe care au însoţit-o în exil în Insula Ponza. Ulterior, ei s-au reînotrs la Roma şi au fost martirizaţi sub Traian.

Mai târziu, când au deschis mormântul, trupul Sfântului Ioan nu mai era acolo. ‘În data de 8 mai a fiecărui an, din mormântul său se ridică un praf care vindecă numeroase suferinţe.’

Este posibil ca răstignirea lui Simeon să fie făcută cu complicitatea iudeilor: Din Istoria Bisericii 3.32.4 a lui Eusebiu: "Iar acelaşi scriitor spune că şi acuzatorii săi, de asemenea, când au fost cercetaţi în privinţa descendenţei din David, au arestaţi ca aparţinând acestei familii." Nota 879: "Aceasta este o declaraţie aparte. Membrii casei lui David ar fi riscat foarte meult ca să-l acuze pe Simeon în privinţa apariţiei lui la această familie. În orice caz, declaraţie este destul de vagă. Nu ni se spune ce s-a întâmplat cu aceşti acuzatori, nici dacă ei erau, într-adevăr, din linia lui David, deşi ὡσ€ν cu care Eusebiu începe descrierea acuzaţiei ne arată că el nu avea nici un fel de dubiu, aşa cum remarcă Lightfoot pe bună dreptate. Este posibil ca cineva din casa lui David să-l fu acuzat pe Simeon, nu de faptul că era membru al acelei familiii, ci pentru că era creştin şi astfel menţionarea apariţiei să devină după o vreme confuză."
