He took up his [[cross]] according to the Lord's commandment, was [[tonsure]]d, and became a [[monk]], following the Lord willingly. He became a lover of the greatest struggles for virtue. He went to [[Jerusalem]] and, after he had venerated the saints and the [[venerable]] places, he came to Mount Sinai. There Anastasius found a group of monks who led a strict [[ascetic]] life, so he stayed and submitted himself to them as a servant. Cuviosul și de Dumnezeu purtătorul părintele nostru Anastasie din Sinai (sau Anastasie Sinaitul) este un sfânt monah din secolul al VII-lea, care a părăsit lumea și toate ale ei. Este considerat unul din Sfinții Părinți ai Bisericii. Sfântul Anastasie este prăznuit pe 20 aprilie; mai este prăznuit, cu soborul cuvioșilor Părinți din Sinai, în Marțea Luminată. Nu trebuie confundat cu Sfântul Anastasie, patriarhul Antiohiei, cunoscut și el sub numele de "Anastasie Sinaitul" și prăznuit tot pe 20 aprilie.

Sfântul Anastasie s-a născut la Alexandria, în Egipt în prima jumătate a secolului al VII-lea.
